Joined the Marine Corps in July 1990. She attended MOS school in Fort Eustis to be a 3112, TMO clerk. In January 1991, she was stationed at MCB, Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. In December 1993, she was stationed with the Red Patchers, Landing Support Bn, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, CA. In August 1995, she was selected to train as a 4429, Stenographer/Court reporter. In September 1995, she transferred to Henderson Hall, Virginia, to train as a stenographer/court reporter. In December 1997, she transferred to Legal Service Support Services, 3d FSSG, Okinawa, Japan. In December 2000, She transferred to 2nd FSSG, Camp Lejeune, NC. In February 2002, she got out of the Marine Corps.

In March 2003, she joined the Marine Corps Reserve and drilled out of Rock Island, IL, acting as the Peacetime-Wartime Support Group SNCOIC. She also acted as the unit’s Public Affairs Officer and Supply SNCOIC. In February 2007, she moved with her active-duty Marine spouse to Quantico, VA, where she filled several active-duty billets such as Legal Assistant, Washington Navy Yard, and Marine Corps Recruiting Command
Assistant SNCOIC for OCS, Quantico, VA.

In May 2008, she was one of six Marines who stood up the Telephonic Notification Cell at the HQMC Casualty Branch, Quantico, VA. Her duties and responsibilities included notifying family members of Marines who were ill or injured, coordinating orders and travel for family members to go bedside to ill/injured Marines, both in country and overseas, and getting twice-daily updates from medical personnel, both in the States and in overseas for ill/injured Marines to update the families. In May 2009, she was selected to join the Active Reserve Program as 6672, Aviation Supply and stationed at MALS-49, New Windsor, NY, where she acted as the Aviation Supply Chief. GySgt Borges retired from the Marine Corps on December 31, 2014.
