Greetings to all from the San Francisco Bay Area. Hope everyone is staying safe. Not much to report this quarter. A lot of the Bay Area continues to be under shelter in place directives, and we have not been able to meet face to face. In addition, with all of the fires burning here, we have very poor air quality, so not a whole lot of outdoor activity. We do meet monthly via Zoom meetings. Loyal Escorts Elaine Vallecillo-Miller and Greg Miller host the Zoom meetings.
In addition to our monthly Zoom meetings, CA-3 also keeps in touch via weekly emails.
Loyal Escort Sarah Rivera had some great news. Her daughter, Deanna, was able to keep her wedding date and married Daniel! They had a small ceremony at their home with just the two of them, the officiant and 1 friend who did her flowers. Although Mom (Sarah) was not able to attend due to Covid, they are planning to be together for a bigger celebration once we can all be close again.
Also, Sarah is part of the Veteran’s Affinity Group (as is CA-3 member Bonnie Dabalos-Castro) at their work – Cooley. They recently had a meeting to discuss the upcoming events being planned for Veteran’s Day which will include recognition of retired and active duty veterans at Cooley. There is also a lot of Pro-Bono work being done to promote veteran entrepreneurships within the firm. Sarah is proud to be a part of that group and to be working with a lot of military veterans from all branches at Cooley.
CA-3 member Lily Brockmeier has started a garden on her patio. She is growing lots of different vegetables!
The combined American Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard in Tracy, California, has started conducting military honors at veterans services once again. CA-3 member Susan Johnston, as a member of the Honor Guard, participated in one service this week. All members of the Honor Guard are socially distancing while wearing masks! Even though black masks are the order of the day, Susan found a black mask with a Marine Corps designation on it!
