I am sad to say that CA-3 lost two members this quarter. One was one of our inactive members, Faith Miller. I am very sad to announce that the second member CA-3 lost was one of their last active World War II veterans – Lucy Danielson. Until recently, Lucy attended CA-3 meetings, and was honored as our oldest Marine. Lucy’s funeral service was attended by CA-3 Vice President Kathleen Wright, CA-3 Loyal Escort Angie Fredekind and CA-3 friend Barbara Morgan. Lucy’s son was very surprised at the number of friends and neighbors who came to the service. CA-3 Vice President Kathleen Wright read the Memorial for a Woman Marine, which everyone
Lucy’s husband was retired Navy and is buried in Arlington. Lucy will join him at Arlington at a later date. Lucy joined the Marine Corps in April of 1945, rising to the rank of Sergeant before being discharged. Lucy considered the Marine Corps a real learning experience, and was proud of her service. She will be missed.
